Cookie Policy
Last updated: [LAST UPDATED DATE]
This policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies (such as localStorage) Machinery Twin uses on this website and in the app, why we use them, and how you can control them.
The operator and data controller is Marco Nucci, libero professionista, operating under the commercial name MN Automate. Complete details are in the Legal Notice.
Your choice, by default off
Only the storage strictly required to run the site is active by default. Analytics is off until you opt in via the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time from the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer.
What we use
| Name / provider | Purpose | Category | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clerk (__session, __client, __client_uat) | Keeps you signed in and protects your account and paid entitlements. | Strictly necessary — always on | Session / up to 1 year |
| Paddle | Runs the checkout when you purchase a plan; required for payment processing. | Strictly necessary — always on | Duration of checkout |
| Cookie preference (this site) | Remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every visit. | Strictly necessary — always on, stored in localStorage, not a cookie | Until you clear your browser storage |
| Vercel Web Analytics | Aggregated page views and limited conversion events; no form content or email is sent in events. | Analytics — opt-in only | No third-party cookies; the visitor hash resets after 24 hours |
Why analytics is opt-in even though it's cookie-less
We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated page views and a limited set of conversion events. It does not use third-party cookies or persistent cross-site identifiers. We do not send email addresses, contact-form content, project data, or account identifiers in custom events. Analytics remains off until you give explicit consent.
Legal basis
Strictly necessary items are processed under our legitimate interest and contractual necessity in providing the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)/(f) GDPR), and are exempt from consent under Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive. Analytics, where enabled, runs only on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with the same effect as giving it.
Third parties
- Clerk — authentication (clerk.com/privacy)
- Paddle — payments, acting as Merchant of Record (paddle.com/legal/privacy)
- Vercel Web Analytics (vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy)
Changing your preferences
Use the “Cookie Preferences” link in the site footer at any time to accept, reject, or customize analytics. Your choice is stored only in your browser and is never sent to us.
