Billing

Subscriptions, trials, upgrades and refunds.

How purchases work

Paid plans are subscriptions, purchased on the pricing section and processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, handling payment, invoicing and VAT. You'll receive Paddle invoices suitable for company accounting; EU reverse-charge with a valid VAT ID is supported at checkout.

You must be signed in before starting a paid checkout. This connects the Paddle subscription to the same Machinery Twin account you use in the browser and desktop apps.

Your Billing page

Open Billing from the signed-in navigation or the account menu in the app. The page shows your current plan and status, monthly or annual cadence, trial or renewal dates, and any pending cancellation or downgrade.

Free and canceled accounts can return to pricing from this page. If the page reports that the subscription needs support, use Manage payments & invoices when available and contact us rather than starting another checkout.

Payments, invoices, and cancellation

Manage payments & invoices opens a temporary, authenticated Paddle customer portal session. In the Paddle-hosted portal you can:

  • update your payment method;
  • review past payments and download invoices; and
  • cancel the subscription.

The portal opens as a separate secure page and may expire if left open. Return to Billing to create a new session. Cancellation normally schedules the subscription to end at the close of the current paid period; the Billing page shows the effective date and access continues until then.

Trials

Where a trial is offered, the trial end date is shown in the app and on Billing; the card is charged when the trial converts. Cancel in the Paddle portal before the end date to avoid the charge.

Upgrades & downgrades

Billing can change between Simulation and Pro while preserving your current monthly or annual cadence. It does not currently switch monthly subscriptions to annual, or annual subscriptions to monthly.

Before you confirm, Paddle calculates and displays the credit, charge, and net result:

  • an upgrade to Pro takes effect immediately and charges the prorated difference now;
  • a downgrade to Simulation is billed from the next renewal, while Pro access continues until that date.

Your plan is attached to your account and reaches the app after Clerk refreshes the session; no reinstall or re-import is needed. Downgrading never deletes your work. Anything over the lower plan's caps blocks new creation until you're back under them (see how limits behave).

Refunds & cancellation

Cancelling in the Paddle portal stops future renewals; access runs to the end of the paid period. The refund policy is published at /refund.
